Platform Sole Trainer
Platform Sole trainer from the Trainers edit.
SKU TRAINERS-P10-6-SAN
Overview
The Platform Sole Trainer is our clean, low-profile trainer built on a raised cupsole for a little extra height and a lot of everyday utility. It keeps to a restrained silhouette with smooth panels, a rounded toe and tonal laces, so the shape does the talking rather than loud branding. Shown here in Sand, it also comes in White for a starker look when you want more contrast. If you like trainers that sit quietly under tapered joggers or chinos but still anchor the outfit, this is the pair.
We designed it for men who want a trainer that crosses over from commute to coffee to casual dinners without fuss. The platform sole reads modern but not showy, and the upper is uninterrupted by bold logos or flashy hardware. That means it works as well with knitwear and overcoats as it does with sweats. The tonal match between upper and sole in the Sand colourway keeps lines clean and lengthens the leg, while the thicker sole adds an understated edge.
Everything about this shoe is considered for regular use: padded collar for comfort, flat laces that stay put, a smooth upper that wipes down easily, and a substantial sole that feels planted on pavements. It is a straightforward piece executed carefully, which is what we aim for across the range. If your rotation includes minimalist trainers and you prefer a quieter palette, this one will settle in quickly and earn its place.
Fabric and feel
The upper has a matte, uniform finish with a subtle, finely textured surface that reads refined rather than glossy. The material sits smooth to the touch with a soft, low-sheen handle, so it takes light without glare. In the Sand colourway you see here, that finish works well with neutral outfits because it adds depth without pulling focus. On foot, the upper flexes cleanly across the vamp without deep creasing, which helps the shoe hold its shape over time.
Inside, the collar looks lightly padded, which is what gives the trainer that cushioned feel around the ankle bone. This padding matters on a platform build because the extra sole height invites longer days on foot. The tongue mirrors the upper’s finish and thickness, staying flat under the laces without bunching. Together they create a snug, even pressure across the top of the foot when laced to preference.
The platform cupsole is noticeably thicker than a standard court sole. It has a firm, supportive feel that takes the slap out of hard pavements. The sidewall is smooth with a stepped, layered look that adds definition. Because the sole and upper are tonally matched in Sand, the whole shoe reads as one piece, which visually lightens the mass of the platform. That balance keeps the trainer looking minimal rather than bulky.
As with any matte-finished upper, the surface benefits from simple care rather than heavy products. A damp cloth will take off street dust and splashes, and letting the shoe dry away from direct sun keeps the tone even. Over regular wear the finish will soften slightly and pick up gentle character rather than heavy scuffs if you keep to that routine. The feel you get at week twelve should be very close to week one: supportive underfoot, smooth up top, no fuss.
Fit and cut
This is a low-top trainer with a rounded toe and a regular footprint. The profile sits just below the ankle with enough padding to avoid rubbing on first wear. The toe box is neither bulbous nor narrow; it follows a straight, wearable shape that suits most foot widths for day-long use. If your feet run wide or you like thick athletic socks, consider sizing up, otherwise choose your usual trainer size for a close, secure fit.
The platform sole changes how a trainer sits in two ways. First, it raises you slightly, which lengthens the leg line when worn with tapered joggers or cuffed trousers. Second, it firms up the step. You feel more lift and a touch more stability than you would from a thin, flexible sole. That makes this pair a solid pick for days that involve standing or walking on hard surfaces. The balance is tuned so the shoe does not feel heavy; the mass is in the sole rather than the upper, keeping movement natural.
Lacing is straightforward. The flat, tonal laces thread through punched eyelets and slide smoothly for micro-adjustments. That means you can set a snug midfoot lock without over-tightening at the forefoot. If you prefer a looser look, the platform still keeps the shoe feeling planted, so you are not trading off security for style. The tongue stays centred and doesn’t drift, which is a small detail that makes a big difference over a full day.
Break-in is minimal. The upper flexes neatly from the first wear, and the collar padding helps during the first few outings. After that, the shoe settles to your stride without collapsing its shape. The cut works especially well under cuffs and tapered hems because the low top doesn’t fight the ankle line. If you alternate this pair with another through the week, it will hold its interior cushioning for longer and keep that new-shoe structure you see in the photo.
Details
The design is intentionally pared back, and the photo shows the fundamentals clearly. The upper is built from smooth, matte panels with a clean vamp and a separate eyestay running from the toe line to the collar. Stitching is neat and even, following the panel edges in single rows without decorative flourishes. There is a subtle seam at the heel where the back panel meets, giving the rear a tidy, vertical line.
The laces are flat and tonal, matching the Sand upper and sole for a seamless look. Eyelets are punched rather than metal-ringed, which keeps the surface quiet and avoids glare. The tongue is also Sand and unbranded on the face, sitting flush when tightened. Around the opening, the collar padding shows just enough volume to soften the contact point without adding bulk to the silhouette.
The platform sole is the defining feature. It is built as a cupsole with a smooth sidewall, finished in the same Sand tone as the upper. You can see a gentle step detail that reads like layered bands, giving the sole structure and a sense of depth. The edge is crisp and runs level from toe to heel, which helps the shoe look considered rather than chunky. Because the sole height is substantial, the foxing line is set higher than on a standard court shoe, visually elongating the upper.
Branding is kept off the exterior, so the lines stay uninterrupted. The toe is rounded and clean with no perforation, and the vamp stays plain, which makes the trainer easy to pair with tailored pieces as well as sportswear. The overall impression is a disciplined minimalism: tonal colour from top to bottom, tidy stitching, and a platform sole that is bold in profile but quiet in finish. All of that is visible in the photograph and is exactly how the shoe presents in hand.
How to wear it
For off-duty days, follow the lead shown in the photograph. Pair the Sand Platform Sole Trainer with a sand or stone fleece set — a crewneck and tapered joggers with rib cuffs — for a clean tonal look that reads put-together without trying. The platform sole keeps the silhouette sharp with joggers because it adds a little lift and a defined edge at the hem. Add a black or charcoal cap and a cross-body bag in the same restrained palette for contrast that still sits within our core colours.
For casual office or coffee meetings, use the trainer to soften smarter pieces. Try navy chinos with a slight taper, a white or ecru heavyweight tee, and a khaki overshirt. The Sand colour warms up navy and khaki, and because the shoe is unbranded and matte, it doesn’t fight the cleaner lines of the overshirt. If you prefer the White colourway, swap it in for brighter contrast under dark trousers and a grey cardigan. Either way, keep socks tonal — sand, ecru or light grey — so the ankle line stays tidy when you sit.
For weekends that involve more walking, go functional without losing the minimal tone. Choose cargo trousers in olive or stone with reinforced seams, a black hoodie or zip fleece, and the Sand trainers. The platform sole gives you the stable base you want with cargos, especially with heavier pockets. Finish with a lightweight parka or coach jacket if the weather turns. In warmer months, the same trainer pairs cleanly with straight-cut shorts in navy or washed black and a boxy tee. The rounded toe and low profile keep proportions balanced with bare legs, and the platform sole stops the outfit feeling slight.
Made in Pakistan
Like every Jordon piece, the Platform Sole Trainer is made in Pakistan. We work directly with specialist units in Sialkot to develop and assemble our footwear rather than importing finished stock. That hands-on approach lets us keep production runs sensible, inspect pairs in person, and refine details from stitch density to sidewall finish without waiting for a container to arrive. It also keeps money inside the local textile and footwear industry where the skills already are.
The result is what you see: a trainer with disciplined lines, consistent stitching, and a finish that looks good up close as well as across the street. We design collections around how people in our region dress and move every day, not around seasonal gimmicks. Making locally means we can adjust quickly when feedback comes in — a touch more padding at the collar, a cleaner edge on the cupsole — and put those changes straight into the next small batch. It is a simpler, more honest way to build product, and it shows in the wear.
Care
Wipe clean with a damp cloth, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. In practice, that means letting day-to-day dust and light marks come off with a soft, slightly moistened cloth after wear, then allowing the shoe to air dry at room temperature. Direct sun or a heater can dull the finish and shift the tone over time, especially on lighter colours like Sand and White, so store them away from windows between wears.
If you pick up a tougher mark, use a small amount of mild soap diluted in water on the cloth, working gently in one direction. Rinse the cloth and go over the same area to lift any residue, then blot dry with a clean towel. Do not soak the shoe or put it in a washing machine. If the interior gets damp, stuff the trainers with plain paper to hold shape and draw out moisture, changing the paper after an hour.
Rotate with another pair through the week to let the interior padding recover. Periodically remove the laces and wipe under the eyestay and across the tongue to keep dust from settling into the crease lines. If you use a protective spray, choose a clear, matte-finish product intended for smooth, non-gloss uppers and test on an inconspicuous spot first. Store them upright, out of direct light, and they will keep the same clean profile you see in the photograph.
